Logan Medical Center Announces After Hours Clinic and
Introduces New Surgery Services as Part of Ongoing Efforts to Meet Needs of Growing Community
February 10, 2010—GUTHRIE—In order to provide the utmost in healthcare convenience and accessibility to the community, Logan Medical Center has opened an After Hours Clinic at its 2919 S. Division, Guthrie location and added a new board-certified gastroenterologist to its staff.
The After Hours Clinic is meant for non-emergency illnesses and injuries that need medical attention when most physicians’ offices are closed. It is open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Because it is a walk-in clinic, no appointments are necessary. Patients are seen on a first-come, first-serve basis, depending on the severity of the illness or injury.
The After Hours Clinic is staffed by a nurse practitioner or physician assistant and some of the health issues that will be treated include minor asthma-related symptoms, minor cuts and animal bites where bleeding is controlled, broken bones and sprains (unless a bone is showing or limb is deformed; then the patient should go directly to an Emergency Room.), earaches, coughs and/or sore throat, skin rashes, sunburns, and minor burns, fever (the patient should go to the Emergency Room if less than six months old), illness with nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea and eye infections.
LMC’s After Hours Clinic is not an emergency medical facility. For life-threatening situations and other medical emergencies, community members should continue to call 911.
Dr. James Stammer, M.D., also has joined the LMC staff. As a board-certified gastroenterologist, he will perform colonoscopies and gastrointestinal scopes and will see patients at the LMC Specialty Clinic and Waterloo Clinic.
“Dr. Stammer has been doing procedures at LMC for many years, and we’ve always had a successful relationship with him. We’re excited to have him on a more permanent basis,” stated LMC Chief Executive Officer Steve Rowley.
Opening the After Hours Clinic and introducing Dr. Stammer to the medical staff both reflect Logan Medical Center’s continued efforts to meet the changing healthcare needs of our growing community. It is the LMC vision to provide patients with a healthcare experience that will exceed their expectations.
