LMC board approves land purchase on South Division

(Guthrie, OK) Logan Medical Center (LMC) board of trustees approved the purchase of three acres of land in the 2900 block of South Division in Guthrie for the purpose of constructing a new medical office building.

“We are still working on establishing the size and scope of the facility,” said Steve Rowley, CEO for LMC, “but it will be a primary care physician clinic with extended hours into the evening and on weekends.” The facility will be 10,000 to 13,000 sq. ft. with the capability of housing at least six new physicians. It will also serve as a replacement for the current clinic located on 19th Street in Guthrie. Dr. Veragiwala and his staff will relocate to the new facility upon completion.

The growth of the medical staff and the needs of the community for additional physicians have been the driving force in this project explained Rowley.

Physician recruitment continues with the addition of Casey Peters, M.D., who will begin seeing patients in August and Angela Morgan, M.D., who will begin seeing patients in December. Gregory Grant, M.D. will join LMC’s staff in June of 2009. All three graduated from the University Of Oklahoma College of Medicine and specialize in Family Medicine.

“We would like to thank the citizens of Logan County for their continued support of the hospital so that we can move forward to provide for their health care needs,” said Dennis Ochs, chairman of the board of trustees.

“The property owners and hospital staff worked diligently to develop a deal that the trustees were happy with,” Rowley said. “We are pleased with their willingness to work with the board and management.”

LMC owns four other clinics in Logan County; LMC Academy and 19th Street in Guthrie, LMC Crescent and LMC Waterloo Road.
