November is National Home Care Month
"Home care professionals, along with modern medicine and technology, make it possible for sick citizens to be cared for in their homes where they can be surrounded by loved ones and familiar surroundings as they live their best quality of life.," said Shon Tetik, Director of Home Health for Logan Medical Center.

November is National Home Care Month and Logan Medical Center applauds the efforts the home health department has done to enhance their clients’ quality of life and the care process. “Home care is regarded as the most viable solution for providing long-term care to our growing elderly population,” Tetik said.

Estimates show that more than two million Medicare beneficiaries receive home health care services, including skilled nursing care, physical and occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, and medical social services. Logan Medical Center offers these services, as well as wound care, IV therapy, diabetic management, post surgical care, prenatal care and education. These services are designed to facilitate recovery from acute illness, surgery or injury. The goal is to help the patient recover or maintain independence with their activities of daily living in the home. “Home Health services help to reduce the rate that people return to the hospital after they have started to receive home care services,” said Steve Rowley, CEO at LMC.

LMC Home Health has been working very hard over the past fifteen years to improve the quality of care our patients receive,” Tetik said. “We have seven nurses, two physical therapists, one occupational therapist, one speech therapist, one certified home health aide and one medical social worker to make sure this happens.” “We are proud of the success they are achieving and look forward to making additional improvements to ensure that all patients get the right care, every time,” Rowley said.

You may qualify for home care services if you are in need of nursing, physical, occupational or speech therapy. If you have not been hospitalized and have a medical restriction or an inability to leave home without assistance you may also qualify for home care services.
