Breast Cancer Awareness
Early detection is the key in the treatment of breast cancer and at Logan Medical Center we are proud of our mammography suite. This area is dedicated solely to provide breast cancer detection education services for women, including screening and diagnostic imaging. The mammography equipment is accredited by the American College of Radiology and there are two certified female mammography technologists for your comfort.
Osteoporosis
Millions of Americans have osteoporosis, the disorder in which progressive bone loss results in increased risk of fracture. Yet, most of us know little about protecting ourselves from this disease.
Research in osteoporosis is making important new advances. A key factor in this success is the availability of new and improved equipment to measure bone density. Logan Medical Center has the equipment to help identify the risk of bone loss at a much earlier stage. It can also evaluate response to treatment so that we know whether therapy is effective.
Cardiac Risk Awareness
Heart disease is the number one killer of women. About a half million women die of heart disease each year in the U.S. – more women than men die from cardiovascular disease.
It is important for women to control the risk factors that lead to heart disease. Aggressively managing risk factors can prevent or delay the onset of heart disease, even in women with strong family histories. If you have already been diagnosed with heart disease, control of risk factors can delay or even halt the progression and improve outcomes.
Further information regarding osteoporosis, risk factors, and bone density measurements may be obtained by contacting your physician at the Center for Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
