Logan Medical Center Hires Hospitalist (Guthrie, OK) Logan Medical Center is proud to announce the addition of Timothy Grode, M.D. to their medical staff. “We’ve hired Dr. Grode to be a the hospitalist for LMC. This is a relatively new trend in the care of hospitalized patients,” said Steve Rowley, CEO at LMC. A hospitalist is the term used for doctors who specialize in the care of patients in the hospital “At LMC, we continually strive to provide the best in patient care and the hospitalist program is an example of this,” Rowley said. “Dr. Grode will be at the hospital where he can immediately respond to a change in a patient’s condition.” Hospitalists undergo the same training as other medical doctors including medical school, residency training, and board certification examination. Dr. Grode is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in pulmonology and critical care. In many instances, hospitalists' may see a patient more than once a day to assure that care is going according to plan, and to explain test findings to patients and family members. They are the physicians that organize the communication between different doctors caring for a patient and serve as the point of contact for other doctors and nurses. “Dr. Grode will work closely with the patient’s primary care physician,” said Stephen Travis, Chief of Staff at LMC. “Of course, high quality patient care is the biggest advantage to having Dr. Grode on staff.” Other advantages are convenience, cost-effectiveness and more specialized care for the patient. Patients will see Dr. Grode in a clinic setting only by physician referral and will be available to the LMC staff as a consultant.
